50 States + 23 Countries < 59 Years = One Happy Life of Travel
Why should you read a blog about travel from me? I’m not a paid travel expert, and I have so much more to see and learn about this great world of ours. However, the reason I write about travel, is because I love it and I want you to experience the joy we have found in seeing new places. No matter what your budget, there are great places you can get to and ways to save for that dream trip. I hope through future posts, you can learn some helpful tricks and much needed planning skills to make your next adventure a trip of a lifetime!
Fifty states, and twenty-three (and counting) countries in fifty-nine years has made for some interesting stories and adventures. A poll from 2016 concluded that the average American has only visited twelve states. I know from talking to some of my friends, that some are content to never leave the state where they were born. I cannot fathom that, but maybe it’s because the love of travel has been instilled in me from a young age. From traveling as a kid across the USA in a crowded station wagon with my family of six and sometimes the dog, to flying 14+ hours to Australia with my hubby and all modes in between. Our first trip to Europe was an example of uneducated planning. Look for a post about it in the coming weeks because not only was it a learning experience for all future travel, but it was a comedy of errors that has us retelling about that adventure still today. Travel can be the journey to get from one place to another, but how you approach it from the planning stage to the destination and back home, can make it meaningful or miserable for you and all involved. Sometimes the best laid plans don’t always work out, and you have to be flexible when that must see stop on your itinerary suddenly doesn’t work out. But what you do see and experience will far outweigh those occasional glitches in your itinerary.
In posts to come, I want to tell you about my favorite places: small towns, cities and great vacation destinations. I absolutely love doing research. If there is a place you would like to visit, but don’t know where to begin, I can help! Who knows, I may have been there. Leave a comment if you have a place in mind and want to know more about it.
